How much does it cost to launch a Solana memecoin?
Launching on degenerate.GG costs a $0.50 platform fee, paid in SOL, plus Solana network and account costs. Buying your own coin is optional and adds to the amount you need.
The launch review shows the current estimate before you confirm. A dollar-denominated fee and a SOL-denominated account cost do not add up to one fixed SOL price.
The three parts of your launch budget
| Cost | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Platform launch fee | $0.50, converted to SOL for the launch. |
| Network and account costs | Roughly 0.02 SOL. The estimate depends on the accounts and transaction being created. |
| Optional initial buy | The SOL amount you choose, plus the separate purchase transaction's network costs. |
A worked example
Suppose SOL is $100 and your review estimates 0.02 SOL for network and account costs. This is a hypothetical price to make the arithmetic clear, not a live quote.
- Launch fee: $0.50 ÷ $100 = 0.005 SOL.
- Estimated network and account costs: 0.02 SOL.
- Estimated launch total: 0.025 SOL before an optional buy.
If SOL were $200 instead, the $0.50 fee would equal 0.0025 SOL. With the same assumed account costs, the launch estimate would be 0.0225 SOL. Always use the amount in your current review.
Account deposits are different from transaction fees
A launch creates accounts to store the coin and its market state. Those accounts need SOL balances to remain on-chain; that funding is different from the fee paid to process a transaction.
Do not treat all account funding as money you can immediately withdraw. Whether an account can be closed and its balance recovered depends on the program that controls it.
Solana's documentation explains account storage balances and transaction fees separately.
What if you choose an initial buy?
The initial buy happens after the launch confirms, in a separate transaction. If you choose 0.05 SOL in the first example, budget about 0.075 SOL plus the purchase's network costs. Leave enough SOL available for both steps.
The buy uses the current market quote and a 1% slippage limit. It does not reserve a price or guarantee that you buy before anyone else. A confirmed launch and an unsuccessful initial buy are separate outcomes: check the result before trying again.
Trading later has its own costs
The launch fee pays for launching. Subsequent buys and sells incur trading fees and network costs. Under the current mainnet settings, the curve trading fee is 1.25%; after graduation, the pool trading fee is 0.30%. Trading fees affect the amount of tokens or SOL you receive.
Before you confirm
- Check the platform fee and network/account estimate in the launch review.
- Include any optional initial buy in your budget.
- Keep a SOL buffer for later transactions instead of committing your entire balance.
- Confirm the name, ticker, image and links before signing.
