How to launch a Solana memecoin (step-by-step guide)
You can launch a Solana memecoin in a few minutes without writing code, deploying a contract or installing a wallet extension. This guide walks through every step on degenerate.GG, what it costs, and what happens after your coin goes live.
Launch a coin nowWhat you need
- An email address. Signing in with email creates a Solana wallet for your account.
- A little SOL. The launch fee is $0.50, paid in SOL. Solana also charges about 0.02 SOL in network fees and account deposits to create your coin, so check the current review and leave a buffer, plus more if you choose an initial buy.
- A name, ticker and logo. Have your idea and image ready before you start.
Step 1: Sign in with your email
Open Wallet and sign in with your email. Your account gets its own Solana wallet, so you don't need Phantom, Solflare or a browser extension. You can back the wallet up or move it later through MetaMask's wallet settings.
Step 2: Add SOL to your wallet
Your Wallet page shows your Solana address. Send SOL to it from an exchange or another wallet. Make sure you send on the Solana network. Your balance updates on the Wallet page once the transfer arrives.
Step 3: Name your coin and pick a ticker
Go to Launch a coin. Choose a name (up to 32 characters) and a ticker (up to 10 characters). The ticker is the short symbol traders see next to prices, like $DOGE. Short, memorable and easy to search beats clever.
Step 4: Tell the story
Every coin needs a description, up to 500 characters. This is your pitch: the joke, the meme or the community behind the coin. Good stories get shared, and shared coins get traders.
Step 5: Upload a logo
Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 2 MB. A square image looks best on coin cards and in share previews. Your logo appears on your coin page, in the coin list and on the preview card when someone shares your link.
Step 6: Add your links (optional)
Add a website, an X (Twitter) account and a Telegram group if you have them. Links show on your coin page and help traders find your community.
Step 7: Choose an initial buy (optional)
Choose an amount in SOL for an optional buy after your launch confirms. The buy is a separate transaction at the current price, with a 1% slippage limit. Other traders can buy before you; choosing an initial buy does not reserve tokens or guarantee the first trade. Leave it at 0 to skip it.
Step 8: Review and launch
Review your coin and the full cost before you confirm: the $0.50 launch fee, about 0.02 SOL in network and account costs, and any initial buy. The review shows the estimated total. When you confirm, your coin is created on Solana. It gets its own page with a live chart, holder list and trading as soon as the launch confirms.
What happens after you launch
Trading on the bonding curve
Every new coin starts on a bonding curve, a pricing formula where the price rises as people buy and falls as they sell. Anyone can buy or sell your coin with SOL from its page. Each trade on the curve has a 1.25% fee.
Graduation to a Raydium pool
When a coin's market cap reaches its graduation target, about $100,000, it graduates. The target is set in SOL when the coin launches (about 200 SOL raised on the curve), so its dollar value moves with the SOL price. Its liquidity then moves to a Raydium pool, where trades have a 0.30% fee, and the coin keeps trading on degenerate.GG. The coin page shows graduation progress, so you and your holders can watch it climb.
Creator rewards
As the creator, you earn half of our buy fees on your eligible coins: 0.50% of every buy on the bonding curve. After graduation, rewards come from the pool's much smaller creator fee, up to 0.025% of every buy. Rewards are paid automatically once your available combined creator balance reaches 0.01 SOL. You can follow them on the Creator rewards page.

Tips for a successful launch
- Share your coin link. Every coin page has a preview card with your logo, name and ticker, so links look good on X, Telegram and Discord.
- Build the community first. Coins with an active group behind them trade more.
- Keep your links current. Traders check them before they buy.
- Be honest. Don't promise returns. Memecoins are entertainment, and trust is what keeps holders around.
